June 2008 Subscriber Articles
A few months ago I was sitting at my desk thinking about what the subject of my next article would be about. Should I even write a new article or reach in my archives and grab an article or two of the hundreds of articles I have written over the years and maybe just update one or two to use in an upcoming issue of DPD News Magazine.
Then I got up for a little stretch and when I came back I decided to check my emails. I went through them all, deleted the junk, sorted what I needed to and then checked the unsubscribers that come in.
I like looking at those because I like to see why folks unsubscribe. One unsubscriber left a message and said this. “ I can’t afford this stuff, why can’t guys like you help guys like me?”
At first, I thought to myself, what a whine ass, when I first started I didn’t have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. Of course, there wasn’t the competition then as there is now but I busted my butt back then and still do today. This guy sounds like he wants a handout.
But you know what, it seems that over the last few months, I can't log on to a forum or browse a blog without seeing a dozen posts from people who are trying to get an online business off the ground but not getting anywhere.
Online marketing must be the only business on the planet where millions of people are spending hours every single day and ending up with NOTHING in return for their time and energy.
Then I realized, it’s complete and utter crap, pardon the expression please, because part of the reason people fail is laziness or just plain silliness on their part. Many people simply cannot or will not force themselves to take action or to even put an honest effort into learning.
Soon after I got that unsubscribe message I mentioned above, I offered an internship to six people who wanted to learn about Web marketing. ( I even emailed the guy who unsubscribed, he never replied ) The deal was, I would give these 6 people a copy of my brand new Internet Marketing course and all the tools and resources that go along with it. Plus all the free one on one
mentoring they needed.
In return they had to put in a 100% honest effort at building a online business complete with their own product and market that product. I was even going to help them and coach them. They just had to do the work, the research and just do it!
Of course I got hundreds of emails saying "pick me, pick me!" I narrowed my choices down and selected a total of 8 people instead of the six I originally decided on. Can you guess how many of these people lasted a full month?
One.
It's pathetic. I made an offer and these people came to me freely with an understanding of the terms and only ONE carried it through.
At least that one person is doing just fine now. He has a nice little income starting to come in and is building a nice list. I can see him sticking with it for the long haul and I know he will have a great future ahead of him.
The bottom line is, people who claim they want to earn money online are like the people who claim they want to lose weight but never exercise or cut down on their eating.
These so-called weight loss advocates read every new article on dieting and all the latest research hoping to find an answer, but here is the kicker...
These people are hoping they'll find the diet that tells them to sit on their fat asses and eat cookies. They want a miracle, not a real solution.
So it is with MANY wannabe online marketers. They don't want to *learn* the ropes, they want to be given the winning number for the next lotto.
Of course not everyone falls into the above category. There are also the people who want to work, and want to learn, they just don't have the right information.
I know it's tough trying to sort through all this madness on your own. Especially in today's world where there are so many scams and schemes on the internet. Being an entrepreneur is a big challenge, and it requires a lot of work and a big learning curve.
If you're still reading this email, I'd wager your someone who is dead serious about success. If that's true, and you just don't know where to get the right kind of guidance to match your burning desire, I want you to follow the link I give you in just a second.
The bottom line is if you haven't made it yet you probably need help. In fact most of us need help at some point in our business ventures.
